Oxford, often referred to as the “City of Spires,” is a city steeped in history, culture, and intellectual legacy. One of the university’s most famous legacy’s however beyond the wave of British politicians that graduated from here, is the birth of Alice in Wonderland; written by Lewis Carroll, a mathematics tutor at Christ Church College.

Kenneth Grahame bequeathed all the royalties of ‘The Wind in the Willows,’ which was based on the countryside around the Thames, to the University of Oxford, for the benefit of the Bodleian Library, to enable it to acquire many books and manuscripts for its readers.
